IICLE®Press salutes Evanston attorney Julie M. Bordo as an outstanding volunteer in the April Author Spotlight. An IICLE®Press contributing author since 2003, Bordo has written for the RESIDENTIAL REAL ESTATE and STARTING POINTS practice handbooks. Her most recent work was on THE ILLINOIS LAWYER’S OVERVIEW: A GUIDE TO COMMON PRACTICE AREAS, 2012 edition.

Bordo, who formed the firm Julie M. Bordo, LLC, in 2001, concentrates her practice on civil matters. In addition to representing numerous corporate clients in commercial transactions, she also performs research and writing services for other attorneys, preparing anything from pleadings, motions, briefs, and appeals to web and social media content.

Also having served as a volunteer presenter for IICLE® programs, Bordo is a fan of the spectrum of IICLE® publications. “With legal research being an integral part of my practice, I have learned that IICLE® is an extraordinary gem in its wide-ranging library of informative, comprehensive practice manuals,” she says. “It is an honor to contribute to [these] exceptional resource[s] that [are] universally valued among my peers.”

Before moving into her own practice, Bordo worked for 10 years with a small Chicago litigation firm handling civil litigation matters, including personal injury, medical malpractice, and consumer class actions. She left that firm to manage Illinois Legal Research. Bordo has taught at DePaul University College of Law as an Adjunct Professor in both Advanced Torts and Legal Drafting and has spoken for the Illinois State Bar Association in addition to her contributions to IICLE®.
